Peter Urffer, MD, FHM
Dr. Peter Urffer joined Doylestown Hospital as a hospitalist in 2005; Dr. Urffer was previously a staff physician at the Denver VA Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente of Colorado. He also was a clinical instructor of medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
In addition to patient care, many hospitalists are involved in efforts to improve the quality of care delivered in the hospital. During his time at Doylestown Hospital, Dr. Urffer has demonstrated his commitment to quality and patient safety by serving on numerous committees including: Critical Care; Pharmacy and Therapeutics; Stroke; Sepsis; and Continuing Medical Education.
Dr. Urffer is board-certified in Internal Medicine. He is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine, the nation's largest and only medical society devoted entirely to hospitalists and hospital medicine. Dr. Urffer earned further recognition in his specialty through the Society's Fellow of Hospital Medicine program, which requires specialized expertise and experience in hospital medicine. He was part of the program's inaugural class in 2009. Currently he serves on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Society of Hospital Medicine.
